St. Francis of Assisi is known as the patron saint of animals and environment. His devotion to God was expressed through love for all of God's creation. St. Francis cared for the poor and sick, he preached sermons to animals, and praised all creatures as siblings under God. Every year on or around October 4, Christians throughout the world celebrate the Feast of St. Francis with prayers for creation and a blessing of the animals. At our in-person worship we will be welcoming animals of the congregation for a special blessing, and at the end of online worship.
As a part of online worship today we will celebrate Richard James (RJ) Reinke who was baptized on September 24th. The recording of his baptism will be included in worship today!
We will also be celebrating the sacrament of Holy Communion. Before worship today, gather elements in your home: bread, juice, wine... any ordinary food will do!
