​Abundant Life Confirmation Retreat

Each year, confirmation students attend a retreat to explore healthy relationships and sexuality through a lens of faith. This is a required retreat each year.

Held at Camp Wapo in Amery Wisconsin, the retreat is a collaborative effort between multiple Lutheran Churches in the Twin Cities and is led by a trained sex educator and local pastors, along with adult chaperones from each church.

The retreats offer different content each year. Topics will rotate so youth will experience a different theme each year – one year will focus on “Faith and Sexuality” with workshops on sex and the Bible, language and anatomy of sexuality, gender identity, sexual orientation, and addressing personal concerns about puberty. The other year will focus on “Faith and Healthy Relationships,” with workshops on self-esteem, healthy relationships, consent and concern, and values-based decision making with an intentional conversations on media and internet use. 

Parent Information Meeting

There will be a parent meeting led by the retreat facilitator made available for parents and caregivers.

Registration for the 2025 retreat will be available in fall.

The retreat is $250

Retreat Topic

In 2024, the focus was on “Faith and Sexuality” with workshops on puberty, bodies, sexual activity, sexual orientation, and sexual identity. This includes a special panel conversation with LGBTQIA+ faith leaders.

​As a part of our conversation about healthy bodies and  choices, there will be discussion and demonstration of contraceptives. ​
