About Worship - What to Expect
Worship at St. Michael's is designed to proclaim God's word of grace, forgiveness, and hope in a way that shapes our lives.

Our 8:45 a.m. service is led by grand piano and our 11 a.m. service is accompanied by pipe organ.
Musical choirs rotate leading worship at both services.

The sanctuary is an accessible space with an altar ramp, hearing-assist devices, and large-print bulletins.

Holy Communion
Mindful of Jesus' words of invitation to "let the children come to me",  we welcome and encourage children of all ages to be part of worship and receive Holy Communion.

We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the month and Festival Sundays.

Gluten-free wafers and non-alcoholic wine are available.

Children in Worship

We believe that children are not the future of the church, they are the church. Their presence and participation is deeply valued at St. Michael’s. We call the cries, giggles, and wiggles of children a “Holy Hum” that we appreciate in worship! Below are some ways to honor the “Holy Hum” of your child:
  • Arrive early to worship and let your child explore the sanctuary.
  • Sit near the front of the sanctuary so they can see and hear well. Sitting at the end of a row provides easy access to an exit.
  • Grab a Pew Bag as you enter worship. It contains small toys and coloring pages for children to keep busy during long moments of sitting or standing in worship. Ushers also offer a children’s bulletin that has space for coloring and games.
  • Teach them simple words such as, “Amen” and invite them to participate in worship when those words are used. Let them hold the offering plate and be a part of passing the peace.
  • Bring them to the table for communion! At St. Michael’s, all are welcome to receive communion. Teach them to hold out their hands to receive the bread.
  • When there is a children’s sermon, encourage them to participate or join them!
  • Use the colorful Spark Story Bibles in the pews to engage children in the scripture reading.
  • Lead worship with your child! Sign up to be an usher with your family. If your child can read, consider lectoring together!
  • If your child needs some space, please use the Children’s Library at the back of the sanctuary. The Children’s Library gives you the ability to listen to the worship service while allowing your child to play, read, or draw.
Take worship home! Talk about prayer concerns throughout the week and bring up Bible stories from worship.

Nursery
Nursery Care is available during all worship services.
