Visitors - Always Welcome!

What to Expect
We recognize that many people visiting a church for the first time do so with a bit of uncertainty and fear, but we trust that you will feel warmly welcomed and made to feel comfortable at St. Michael's.

St. Michael's is a community of faith, a church home, composed of families, couples and singles of a variety of ages and backgrounds who bring with them their joys and sorrows, their hopes and fears, their dreams and doubts.

We gather to have our faith nurtured that we might go out into the world secure in God's love and to care for all people in God's name.

If you scroll down, you'll find more helpful information about St. Michaels. But the best way to get to know St. Michael's is to talk with people here. Don't hesitate to strike up a conversation with one of our pastors, an usher, or people sitting with you in the pew to learn more about our worship, education, fellowship and service in the world.

What times are your worship services?
From September through May we worship at 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. From Memorial Day through Labor Day we worship at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday and 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

While both services are rooted in the Lutheran liturgy, each service has its own feeling. Music at the 8:45 a.m. service features piano, guitar and other instruments, while the pipe organ at our 11 a.m. service offers a more formal environment. The summer 10:00 a.m. service is accompanied by the pipe organ, and the Monday night service is more informal and accompanied by the piano.

What happens during worship?
As you enter the church, a friendly usher will greet you and hand you a bulletin to guide you through the service. All of our services include responsive readings, readings from the Bible, preaching, singing, and prayer. At times you will be invited to stand, sing, greet your neighbor, be in silence and read responsively.

Communion is offered at St. Michael's on the first, third and fifth Sundays of the month and also on Christmas Eve, Easter and Pentecost. At St. Michael's everyone is invited to receive communion. Children are welcome to receive communion, but if they choose not to they are welcome to come forward to receive a word of blessing.

At all of our services we continue the ancient Christian practice of receiving an offering to support the ministry of the church and to reach out to the world to serve those in need. We welcome your gifts. If you are unable to give financially, we encourage you to find a way to share your time and talent with the church, another organization or a neighbor in need.
