Baptism
We believe God’s love is for all people! We affirm the fullness of God’s family and practice baptism for all.
Baptism initiates us into a lifelong relationship with a God who loves us unconditionally. |
We are washed in God’s promise that we are beloved and marked with the sign of the cross as the symbol of our identity as children of God, an identity that nothing, not even death, can take away from us.
Lutherans practice infant baptism. We see infant baptism as a beautiful reminder of God’s gracious and unconditional love. Before a child is able to prove anything, before they achieve or fail, they are named as beloved. God’s grace surrounds us before we can even ask for it.
Lutherans also practice adult baptism for those who have not been baptized as infants. At St. Michael’s. baptisms occur in the midst of our normal worship services. Families planning a baptism should call the church office to set up a date with the Pastors or email the office by clicking here. |
