1st -4th Grade: Workshop Stations & Maker Space
Workshop Stations: Join us as we explore the theme: Change Makers! Through rotational learning , students will experience Bible stories in the ways they learn best. Each Sunday they will rotate through self-guided stations that shepherd (volunteer leaders) support. Rotational learning builds on the advantages of repetition. The more different ways children explore a story or concept, the more it is reinforced in their memories.
Maker Spaces: Each Sunday when children enter the fellowship hall they will be greeted by maker spaces. Around these spaces children will engage in learning that promotes critical thinking skills. Each month the children will come up with a community based problem around the themes of: Access to clean water, Access to Shelter, Access to Food, Access to Community Resources. The students will then come up with a solution and share their experience with the community! There will be a Biblical connection to the lectionary text and a highlighted world change-maker (such as Harriet Tubman or Habitat For Humanity)!
5th graders meet with their adult leader to share weekly highs and lows, and explore the Connect curriculum which is designed just for tweens, blending solid theology with quirky humor! In this class, 5th grade students explore major themes in the narrative arc of the Bible from creation to God's new creation.
6th and 7th Grades: Here We Stand: New Testament
Our 6th & 7th graders dive into Scripture in order to share in the stories of faith, grow in Biblical literacy, and build their relationship with God and each other more profoundly.
