ELCA Hurricane Disaster Relief
Each year generous members and friends of St. Michael’s pledge funds to our congregation’s Disaster Relief & Assistance benevolence. Through this fund we are able to give to place locally, nationally, and internationally during times of disaster and loss. This week our church council designated $5,000 to be directed to Disaster Relief in Houston and the Gulf Coast following the hurricane/tropical storm that hit that area.
The Council is aware that there may be on-going needs and will continue to share updates within the congregation. If you would like to make an additional contribution as an individual or family, you may also give through ELCA Disaster Relief at https://community.elca.org/ushurricanerelief.
LED Lighting Project
The Executive Committee of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church called a special congregational meeting on August 6th for the sole purpose of approving a no-interest (0%) loan in the amount of up to $25,000 for the installation of LED lights and ballasts in the education and office wings of the church building.
The motion was approved by the congregation! Installation of LED lights will begin in fall.
Property Committee is forming a Green Team to implement the recommendations of our energy audit and to find other ways to conserve energy. If you are interested in this short-term group, contact Neal Chapman for additional information.
